Final design outline. Drawn from life. Sadly the anemones didn't hang around long enough to paint them from life as they are here.

A page from my sketchbook. Trying to work out the best way to recreate the vibrant deep blue of the anemones.

The ultramarine blue hasn't behaved quite as it did on the test paper. It's much more opaque and less of the purple is coming through. I knew it was risky to try another layer. I tested it on the test sheet, but once again it's behaved quite differently, sitting on top and separating. I still like this watercolour, despite it's many imperfections but I think it's about to head off in a different direction.
